Carraig Abhainn Garden |
| |
|
Welcome to Carraig Abhainn, the beautiful garden of Hazel and Eugene Wiseman.
Situated in Durrus, in scenic West Cork, Carraig Abhainn is a large garden [1 Hectare (2.5 acres)] bounded by a mill stream, giving this oasis a wonderful sense of peace and serenity.
The mature trees along the river bank and the surrounding hills give very welcome shelter and protection for a wide variety of tender plants. The garden consists of islands of trees and shrubs surrounded by grass, bark and gravel paths and has four unique bridges crossing the mill stream.
 |
It is a garden in which to lose oneself, a rare pleasure to wander through the riverside and woodland. A 3 acre garden, delightful in many ways, where you can lose your sence of direction and time on wandering pathways, where at each turn unexpected vistas unfold. Like many a great garden it has its own unique quirkiness. Within this garden there are rampant lions, African masks, magnificent busts, faces carved into tree trunks and modern water features beneath umbrellla and Japanese style bridges. This garden tweaks at your heart and begs to be enjoyed. |
